In Metis, Revenue and Costs are split into three categories:
And these apply to both Revenue and Cost entries across Metis. Let's look at some real-life examples of what we mean by these categories, and how they relate to Revenue and Costs generated from an Opportunity/Job.
People/Time
Broadly speaking, People/Time amounts can be any value directly related to People's time worked on a Job/Opportunity. This can be from staff or freelancers, and can affect both the overall Revenue and Cost of the Job.
People/Time Revenue = The total amount of Revenue you expect to generate for this Opportunity/Job from People's time worked on it (related to charge-out rates)
People/Time Cost = The total amount of Cost you expect to incur for this Opportunity/Job from People's time worked on it (related to internal cost)
Expenses
Expenses relate to the amount you consider to be Expenses for the Job/Opportunity.
Expenses Revenue = The total amount that you expect to charge back to the client as Expenses for this Job/Opportunity (including any mark-up)
Expenses Cost = The total amount that you expect to incur by providing any extra services on this Job/Opportunity, relating to the Expenses Revenue (without any mark-up)
Other
Other is intended for subcontractors and other 3rd party costs such as organisations to whom part of a project i.e. research has been subcontracted. As with expenses, the revenue side is for what you will bill the client and the cost side is for the cost you will bear in your business.
Other Revenue = The total amount you expect to charge back to the client for any subcontractor or 3rd party services engaged in the undertaking of this Job/Opportunity (including any mark-up)
Other Cost = The total amount that you expect to incur by providing any extra services such as subcontractors or 3rd party services on this Job/Opportunity, relating to the Expenses Revenue (without any mark-up)
